HTC Sensation

HTC have today officially anounced its latest high end smartphone, the HTC Sensation. It comes packed with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and the new HTC watch video service as well.
HTC Sensation – HTC’s flagship model
The HTC Sensation is the first HTC smartphone featuring a dual core processor. The HTC Sensation has a 4.3″ Super-LCD screen with 540×960 resolution giving a 16:9 aspect ratio, great for watching movies. The touchscreen is protected as the screen is slightly recessed and has a concave profile and is handy for when the HTC Sensation is placed face down. The screen is made from Gorilla Glass so damage should not be a big problem.
The HTC Sensation comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4GB ROM and 768mb RAM, giving plenty of power for those Android apps you will want to use.
The HTC Sensation has an ultra thin form factor and despite the 4.3″ screen is smaller than the Desire HD and looks it too becuase of the rounded corners and narrow bezel.
The HTC Sensation sports and 8 megapixel camera with dual LED Flash on the rear whilst there is an VGA camera at the front for video calls and taking snaps of yourself. The HTC Sensation also offers 1080p video recording and includes a basic video editing app so you can trim the video before sharing. Another notable feature here is the instant capture function, the photo is taken the instant you press the button so that you don’t miss those precious moments.
The HTC Sensation has a 1520 mAh, lithium-ion battery providing talk time of upto 495 minutes and standby time of upto 400 hours.
More HTC Sensation features
The HTC Sensation also comes with HTC Trace, a swype style keyboard.
The latest version of HTC Sense 3.0 has 3D and cube-like widgets making for a much richer visual experience.
There is also a customisable lockscreen that allows the user to display important information and content and which lets you jump immediately to key apps (such as the camera or email) with the same quick gesture normally used to unlock the phone. Also on the lock screen you can place live widgets so you can have Twitter updates, email or weather updated live on the lock screen if you so desire.
HTC Watch is HTC’s movie delivery service. You can buy or rent movies from within the Watch application and once download starts you can commence watching the movie within 10 seconds while the rest of the content downloads in the background. In practice I guess this will be dependent upon connection speeds.
The HTC Sensation has got us (and many others) very excited and we can’t wait to get hold of the phone.
Vodafone have confirmed they will launch the HTC Sensation around mid-May time and the other UK networks will follow about a month later. Whilst prices are still unknown at this point for the HTC Sensation, given it is a high end handset we expect it to be in line with other similar high end handsets.
